Jennifer Suto
On the early morning of July 11, Jennifer Suto passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by loved ones. Jennifer was a caring, devoted mother and an incredible wife. She was a compassionate and hard-working individual who approached everything with a warm smile. Jennifer was deeply involved in various organizations, both in her career and personal life. She served as the president of the NJ AALAS group and took pride in her role, always enjoying meetings with fellow members. When Jennifer moved to Millstone, New Jersey, she joined the local Mom's club and spoke fondly of the new friends she made and the activities they attended together. When her son Parker was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum disorder, Jennifer became a passionate advocate for children with special needs. She and her husband founded an organization called Parenting Autism Together, providing support and resources to parents in similar situations. Jennifer's kind and generous nature will be dearly missed, and her legacy will live on through her children.
Jennifer is predeceased by her father, Keith. She is survived by her loving husband, Robert; her two sons Parker, age 4 and Logan, age 2; her mother, Barbara; and her brother, Keith and his wife, Jennifer. She also leaves behind parents-in-law, Harold and Geri; and sister-in-law Jessica. Anyone who met Jennifer was profoundly impacted. Her gentle soul and love shine through the darkness of the world. She will be missed by many and loved by all.
Jenifer was a member of NJ and Metro NY AALAS.

Lawrence (Larry) Joel Sarra
Larry was born in Brooklyn, NY on April 17, 1947. He started working at E.R. Squibb in 1974, weathered the merger with Bristol Myers and ultimately retired from there in 2007. Prior to that, he was a long haul trucker. During his career, Larry was an operations manager at various BMS sites. According to one co-worker, “his knowledge of facilities, although not always conventional, was encyclopedic. If you were willing to get thru a sometimes crusty exterior, he was more than willing to share knowledge he had gained over the expanse of decades”. He knew what he wanted, and expected others to figure out how to do it.
Another coworker noted that “he was always there for me when I had a question or needed him for something. I found him to be a big teddy bear, but he never wanted anyone to know that.”
One salesperson was warned about meeting him and the description given was not what she found. He was funny and smart. “His knowledge about engineering, present and potential future needs for the physical plant and specific species and his understanding of the GLP environment” were impressive.
Personally, when I accepted a job at Princeton, Larry took me under his wing, introducing me to other facility managers in the area, and supported me during the design process for a new building.
He enjoyed cooking, golf and fishing. During his golf outings, he dressed traditionally, in knickers, plaid socks and a tam. Larry retired to Chincoteague Island. He loved the beach, fishing and the way of life there, and it seemed to wear a few of his rough edges away, but not his biting wit.
A series of health issues caused him to end up in Georgia, where he eventually passed on Fri, Sep 3, 2021. He was preceded in death by his wife Diane.
Larry was an enigma. He was a private person who was willing to share industry information to anyone he respected, and he would go to the mat for you if you needed him. Whether you loved him or hated him, everyone had an opinion of him. For those of us who knew him, we think of him fondly and miss him.

Lisa Panchella
It is with a heavy heart that we have very sad news that Lisa Panchella passed away on Wednesday, January 15. Lisa had beaten cancer a couple of years ago, however, she had a recurrence last year, which she battled until she was unable to continue work in November.
Lisa was a conscientious, hard-working, dedicated mother and true friend. Lisa loved to work, enjoyed her job and loved being in compliance.
Lisa was an integral part of the DVB family. Lisa was involved in nominations, secretary, president and was our current DVB webmaster. No matter what Lisa was involved in, she gave 100% and always had the time to help someone.
Her dedication to service enabled the work of all who sought her help—researchers and administrators alike. Her professionalism and team focus are respected and acknowledged by her many colleagues and in the broader research compliance community. In addition, Lisa loved participating in all events, she was creative in her work, and her wit was unparalleled, even in the face of frustration.
We personally feel so privileged and grateful to have known her and worked with her. Her spirit was amazing and she left an impact with everyone she knew and worked with.
Lisa is survived by her husband Tom Panchella, her son Brayden, her parents and her siblings.

John Polachek
A long- time DVB member, John Polachek, died on May 24th. For those who knew him, he was funny, kind, and always ready for a good time. Back in “the day” he was a fixture at “Country Night” at National AALAS meetings, and did a mean Two-Step.
John served in Vietnam from 1968-71 in the Army 101st Airborne as a line chief for helicopter maintenance. According to one person who knew him well, John learned to fly a helicopter the hard way; he was dropped into the field to fix one, and heard the ping of bullets on the body and decided that it was ready to fly and flew out of there. During service calls, he often shared stories of repairs done under fire. He was a licensed helicopter pilot, and built and flew his own RotorWay helicopter.
John owned Eastern Biomedical Services, and before that partnered with Ed Linke to found TriState Biomedical. Before striking out on his own, he provided service for PAM, Inc. Bill Mitchell, the owner of PAM, was John’s Boy Scout leader.
John was a father of two, with 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 2013 and died of complications from a fall. He was 71. He will be interred with military honors at Washington Crossing National Cemetery on June 4th.
