National AALAS Meeting Registration Award

This award covers the cost of attending the National AALAS Meeting. Preference is given to individuals who do not have institutional funding and have not attended the meeting previously.

Award

This award consists of an award certificate and $1,000 to be used toward attending the AALAS National Meeting. The $1,000 includes reimbursement that can be applied to the following:

  • Hotel costs (reservations can be made the night prior to the beginning of the meeting)
  • Transportation costs, such as train, rideshare, airfare, and rental car
  • Parking and toll costs if a car is driven or parked at the airport
  • Meals (up to whatever the government rate is for the particular site)


The winner is responsible for any personal costs outside of those mentioned above. Workshops may be included as long as the total for the entire trip does not exceed $1,000. Receipts for all reimbursements must be submitted within 30 days of travel.


Application requirements:

  • Candidates will be evaluated based on demonstrated financial need.
  • Letter of recommendation and support from a supervisor noting that they can attend the meeting (if selected).


Applicants must address the following questions in their application:

  • How does this award provide meaningful financial assistance? 
  • What are you hoping to gain from attending the meeting?
  • Describe your leadership and/or participation in local (DVB) or national laboratory animal science organization (AALAS).
  • Describe how you plan to apply the knowledge and connections gained at AALAS in your own workplace. Include any specific activities you plan to lead or support after your return.

  • Must be a DVB member
  • Preference is given to individuals who do not have institutional funding and have not attended the meeting previously.
