Nomination of President Elect

I, Kelly Patterson, have accepted Denise DiFrancesco’s Nomination for President Elect. I have been working in the Animal Research Field since graduating from Delaware Valley University and have been a supervisor or Manager of Animal facilities for 20 years around Philadelphia and South Jersey. I am currently the Animal Facility Associate Managing Director at The Wistar Institute. I am an active member of DVB AALAS and attend meetings regularly over the last 20 years. I am also an active member of National AALAS and had the opportunity of attending a national meeting in 2019 in Atlanta Georgia. I have volunteered as a student assay judge for PSBR for 2 years, I have also volunteered for the DVB tech night committee. I first heard about DVB from Delaware Valley University and attended my first meeting while I was in college, I appreciate DVB’s commitment to the support and education for the Animal Science field. I got into this field for my love of animals and science, I love hearing about new things in our field and seeing others in our field grow. I have learned so much from my colleagues over the years and would like to give back to the community that helped me build my career.



Kelly Patterson Bio

Ms. Kelly S. Patterson, MLAS, RLATG, CMAR, ILAM, was the 2020 AALAS recipient of the AAALAC International Fellowship Award. Ms. Patterson currently serves as Director of the Laboratory Animal Facility at the Institute for Cancer Research, Philadelphia, PA. There she manages and oversees the daily operations of the vivarium including supervision of support staff and technical training. Ms. Patterson has technical expertise in a wide variety of animal models and is an expert in preclinical project management.


Prior to her current position, Ms. Patterson served as the Founding Vivarium Director/Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee Vice-Chair/Adjunct Professor at Montclair State University in Montclair, New Jersey. She has also served as the Vivarium Manager/Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee Chair for Purdue Pharma and as a Senior Laboratory Manager at Columbia University in New York City. Ms. Patterson Is an active member of LAMA, National AALAS, PRIM&R and DVBAALAS, and has coauthored numerous publications on gastric cancer research. She received her Master’s in Laboratory Animal Science from Drexel University of Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She is currently serving on the board of directors for the AALAS Foundation and enjoys participating in outreach and education events within the lab animal community.
